As the Memorial Day weekend winds down, I thought it would be a good time to give you a roundup of some of the interesting industry news you may have missed over the last few weeks.
If you’re curious to see how other companies are complying with Do Not Track, check out this short analysis by Time. And ClickZ reports that a Do Not Track mechanism may in place by the end of the year.
In other news, eMarketer reports that only 15% of marketers feel comfortable in their ability to implement a multichannel marketing campaign.
According to eMarketer,“Even with so much room to improve their cross-channel and real-time efforts, implementing these tactics was not a digital marketing priority for the vast majority of respondents. Instead, they were still experimenting and trying to improve the basics of measuring campaign performance and optimization within channels, rather than across them.”
However, a recent report by Aberdeen Research surveyed retail marketers and found that, although small numbers currently had the ability to personalize messaging across digital channels and in real time, more than 62% of marketers planned to implement these capabilities in the next 12 months.
And finally, you’ve likely heard that over half the U.S. population now owns a smartphone, but did you know that half of all U.S. smartphone users have used a GPS- or location-based app to find a retail location? eMarketer also reports that nearly half – 44% – of smartphone users have accessed a retailers mobile site.
Let us know when come across any industry news you find valuable. Have a great holiday weekend!
